Usher Stepson Dies After Jetski Accident 21 July, 2012
Usher's 11-year-old stepson has passed away this morning from injuries suffered in a tragic jetski accident in Georgia earlier this month.
Doctors removed 11-year-old Kyle Glover from life support after it was determined the injuries were too severe to overcome. We're told Kyle's mother, Tameka Foster, struggled tremendously with the decision.
According to our sources, Tameka is understandably devastated. Glover was injured on July 8 ... as he was riding in an inner tube that was connected to a pontoon in Lake Lanier.
According to authorities, a family friend who was riding a jetski behind the pontoon lost control and collided with Glover's tube. The accident is currently under investigation.

Digital Life Sacrifice: Is Alicia Keys Still Dead? (Photo)
These are pictures from 'The Digital Life Sacrifice’ which happened a while back; a host of celebrities who helped to raise money for AIDS research by suffering a ‘digital death’ which involves them logging off their Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites for 24 hours.
The concept of ‘The Digital Life Sacrifice’ was created by Alicia who said, ”Once I got people on the phone and I was able to paint the concept for them, everybody was in. ‘We’re trying to make the remark, ‘why do we care so much about the death of one celebrity as opposed to millions and millions of people dying in the place that we’re all from?”
Really cool stuff...

My mum didnt recognise me before she died, she called me Jude’ – Peter Okoye
ts being days now since music duo Psquare lost their mum, and condolence messages have since trooped in to the stars and their family, however, both singers are really not finding it easy, as they have being deeply affected by the death of their mother whom they refer to as their pillar and inspiration. Peter Okoye one of the duo who spoke recently in an interview, expressed his grief, according to him: She has been diabetic for years, and when it started many months back, we got good doctors to treat her in Jos. But when we couldn’t get good results, we brought her to Lagos. We took her to St Nicholas Hospital and everybody who went to see her in the hospital cried. She had lost a lot of weight and couldn’t recognise us. She called me Jude. I can never forget that day.
She went through a lot and gradually she got stabilized thereafter she was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and she spent two to three weeks there. So we thought of moving her to South Africa, India or the US for proper check up. We eventually took her to India about four weeks ago and we talked every one hour. The Indian doctors made sure to clean everywhere before the surgery, and the operation was successful. Our sisters who were with her confirmed this to us and we were very happy to hear the good news. She was okay before the eventual death and for a day one of my sisters was unconscious because she couldn’t believe it.
We wanted to travel to India the following day she died (Thursday July 12) but we changed our plans. Her body arrived Lagos on Sunday July 15th. No concrete arrangement yet on the burial. She will be greatly missed, not just because she was our mother, but because she played a vital role in our success story and remains our role model.

Lagos-Badagry Expressway: Construction Slows Down
Millions of residents of Lagos, particularly those on the outskirts of the metropolis towards the West- Badagry, Okokomaiko, Iyana Iba, Ajangbadi, Alaba International, Agboju, Amuwo Odofin, Satellite and Festac Towns among other adjourning settlements, are beginning to raise concern over the delay and slow pace of construction works on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway project.
The job was initially estimated to be completed within five years at the cost of N220billion.
Almost four years after the take-off of the reconstruction and expansion of this all-important road from its present four lanes to ten which elicited jubilations, the excitement has waned.
Of course, more than any other project embarked upon by Lagos State in the last 13 years of Nigeria’s democratic path, and perhaps any to be undertaken before the exit of the current administration in 2015, the Lagos-Badagry project is the most ambitious.
This is arguably so because factored into this huge project are light rail (referred to as Blue Line) and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) with combined capacities to move millions of passengers much safer, faster and cheaper compared to what currently obtains on the road where the operators of the unregulated yellow commercial buses have enthroned the culture of impunity.
However, works on the project has since slowed down and the initial hope raised among motorists, commuters, residents, artisans, and businesses seems to be fading away. Of particular concern to these stakeholders is the absence of contractors on site from Orile towards Mile 2 (which falls under Lot 1 of the project).
Julius Berger, which handles this section of the road, is no longer seen on site unlike in the past when the construction giant drew the commendation of every passer-by for the speed and dexterity with which job was approached.
CityFile observes that apart from the rail project which is still ongoing, nothing practical in terms of road construction is happening at the Orile-Iganmu end of the road, where grasses are fast sprouting on some sections of the road.
On Lot 2 of the multi-billion naira road project- starting from Mile near Maza-Maza towards Agbara, which was awarded to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), works have remained slow. Aside from clearing of sites, laying of concrete bricks for gutters and heaps of sand, not much progress is has been made.

Brave Youths Arrest 2 Boko Haram Suspects
The killing of a 20-year-old innocent boy was all the youths needed in confronting three gun-totting Boko Haram members who invaded Rigasa and Mahuta, a suburb of Kaduna metropolis yesterday.
The brave youths arrested the two suspects, aged between 17 and 22, who had gone to the compound of the District Head of Afaka, Alhaji Abdulwahab, in a bid to kill him. The Boko Haram members were bearing an AK-47 rifle at the time they invaded two neighbouring Rigasa and Mahuta communities on a motorcycle at 9a.m.
Also, in what seemed like divine intervention, an attempt by the sect to bomb a branch of Living Faith Church (aka Winners’ Chapel) in Okene, Kogi State failed yesterday as the bomb went off at the main gate.
In the Kaduna incident, an eyewitness said, “the gunmen came and said they were looking for the ‘Hakimin Mahuta’ (District Head of Mahuta), disguising as members of his subjects. So, when they allowed them into the house, the ‘Hakimin’ was not comfortable with them, so he ran back inside.“The suspects ran after him and shot at him severally, but their shots missed him, instead a small boy, Nura was hit. When they discovered that the ‘Hakimin’ had escaped through the back exit, they came back outside and picked their bike and trailed him to Mahuta.”
On getting to Mahuta, the three gunmen started shooting sporadically, but the youths dared them. They moved nearer, even as they were firing at them. An elder in the community, who identified himself as Mallam Abdullahi, told our reporter that “the young gunmen came on a bike and started shooting, but having discovered that, our youths were ready for them, they started withdrawing into the bush and the youths were closing in on them with bare hands”.
According to Abdullahi, “at a point, their bullets got finished and they loaded another round of ammunition, but despite that, the youths were able to apprehend two of the three gunmen, while the last one ran away.” Abdullahi, however, said that although, they shot seven of the youths, who were being treated at some undisclosed hospitals in Kaduna, but none of them died.
“A 20-year-old boy was killed in the process. And I also heard that they attacked Mahuta community. I also saw the boys who wanted to kill me after their arrest by Mahuta youths”, he said. Confirming the incident, the police spokesman for Kaduna State command, DSP Aminu Lawal, said, “two gunmen were arrested by residents of Mahuta community near the National Eye Centre in Kaduna today (Sunday).”
“The two gunmen in the process shot and injured seven residents of the community during the face-off. They are now receiving treatment at the hospital,” said Lawal. He thanked members of the community for their vigilance and quick response which led to the timely intervention of the Joint Task Force, made up of the military and the police. In Kogi State, Daily Sun learnt that an explosion occurred when the suspected car conveying the bomb targeted at the Living Faith Church was prevented from entering the premises by the security. In the process of manoeuvring the car by the driver, the bomb exploded immediately.
Worshippers at the Winners’ Chapel and the Deeper Life Bible Church located within the vicinity of the blast scampered for safety. There was no report of the number of casualties at Press time. Sources, however, said that the security personnel around the area have arrested a man in connection with the bomb blast at Obeira in the Okene area The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr.Ile Simon, confirmed the incident, saying that there was a bomb blast by the suspected Boko Haram sect.

Missing TV Presenter: We Waited An Hour Before Towing Victims Vehicle – LASTMA
The General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Mr. Babatunde Edu, has said LASTMA officials waited for over an hour before towing the vehicle of the missing television presenter, Alhaji Razaq Gawat, on Eko Bridge on Tuesday.
Gawat, who was last seen on Tuesday, was declared missing by the Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday.

The LASTMA GM in a statement on Sunday said the vehicle, a 4RUNNER black Toyota SUV with number plate RE 77 AAA was found on the Eko Bridge around 11:45pm on Tuesday by his men led by the Zonal head, Mr. Akinpelu Ayuba.
He said the LASTMA officials were conducting regular safety checks on the bridge in order to ensure that there were no abandoned or broken down vehicles on it.
Edu said, “The vehicle was parked very close to the kerb with no visible sign of hit from other motorists except that its hazard light was on and the four doors were locked.
“The thinking of the officials at the time was that the occupant(s) had run out of fuel and had gone to source for same or in dire need of assistance. The dedicated officers in order to ensure the safety of the occupant(s) and also render assistance if need be, formed a search group to look out for the owner of the vehicle.
“The search went on for over one hour with no trace of the owner. In order to guide against stealing of the vehicle and to ensure that on coming vehicles and other road users did not run into it, the black jeep was towed into in the early hour of Wednesday to the Olowu Zone of the agency’s office on Lagos Island.”
He said the zone’s base officer, Mrs. Ganiat Ijaoba, while conducting routine checks on all impounded vehicles on Wednesday, discovered through the side glass that the vehicle’s passenger seat had some religious books and materials such as Qurans and complimentary cards that had Gawat Communications written on them scattered in the vehicle.
Edu said one of Gawat’s relatives, who is also an official of the agency, identified the vehicle as that of the presenter and he was asked to contact the family.
The LASTMA boss said Gawat’s wife, Fatimat, and three other men came to the agency’s office and were later joined by the Divisional Police Officer of Adeniji Central Police Station, Mr. Monday Agbonnika, in company with some policemen on Wednesday to take a look at the vehicle.
He added that after several unsuccessful attempts to open the vehicle with a spare key brought by members of Gawat’s family, the presenter’s son, Jubril, invited a panel beater who forcibly opened it.
The LASTMA boss said Fatimat entered the jeep to look for some documents which were observed to be missing together with her husband’s phone.
The team, comprising the presenter’s wife, other members of his family, LASTMA officials and the police later visited the scene where the vehicle was initially towed.
“A letter demanding for the release of the victim vehicle was written by the police so as to further help them in their investigations and this was obliged and the jeep was taken away by the police,” Edu said.

Update on P'Square mum's death: She Died Few Hours After Heart Surgery In India
The Nigeria entertainment circle and fans of Psquare (Peter and Paul Okoye) are still in shock over the sudden death of Psquare's mum Mrs. Josephine Okoye. The late mother of the Okoye's had been ill for some time, and was operated on in an Indian hospital a few hours before she gave up the ghost last night.
According to NET, she passed away about five hours after undergoing heart surgery.
A statement from Psquare’s publicist says
‘Josephine Okoye, who had battled with prolonged illness, passed away in an Indian hospital in Kolkata, last night July 11, 2012 at 11PM.’
Speaking to NET at his residence, Peter Okoye said their late mother suffered from diabetes.
We’re told she had earlier been admitted to St. Nicholas hospital in Lagos, but was flown out of the country when her condition worsened.
The atmosphere at Squareville, the Omole Phase 1 home of the Okoye brothers – Peter, Paul and Jude, was somber, less than a day after the news broke.
Friends and colleagues of the award-winning singers have been visiting the house to commiserate with the family.
A condolence register has been opened, and some of those who paid early visits include their album marketer, T-Joe, producers Flip Tyce and Samklef and TV host Helen Paul-Bamisile.
While Peter Okoye opened up his doors to speak with NET, Paul was not seen anywhere in the vicinity.
‘You know that she was a prayer warrior, so I don’t need to tell you how she stood by us spiritually. Besides, she was the only one that believed in us when we decided to make a career out of music.
I can remember that she used to sneak us out at night then to attend shows without the consent of our father who insisted that we must quit music to face our education’, Peter recounts.
She is survived by her Jos based husband, her children Ifeanyi, Henry, Jude, Lilian, Tony, Peter, Paul and Mary, as well as her grand-children, including Cameron, Peter’s son...
